Contract service is voluntary paid service in the Russian Armed Forces at the citizen's own initiative. A contract serviceman is a professional soldier with special status and benefits — compensation is determined by military rank and position.

Will I be discharged when my contract expires?

A contract with a serviceman will only be terminated if both parties agree.

Can a foreign national sign a contract to serve in the Russian Army?

Yes, provided they are legally present on Russian territory. Foreign nationals who have completed a contract are eligible for a simplified Russian citizenship procedure — no residence permit required.

How can a foreigner sign a contract with the Russian Armed Forces, and where to apply?

Submit an application at the unified contract recruitment point in your city or at the Sakharovo Multifunctional Migration Center. Unified recruitment points: ul. Yablochkova, 5, bldg. 1 — weekdays 09:00–18:00, Sat–Sun until 15:00. MMC Sakharovo: Varshavskoye Highway, 64th km, bldg. 1, str. 47 — daily 08:00–20:00.

What documents does a foreigner need to sign a service contract?

Identity documents; proof of lawful presence in Russia (migration card, residence permit, temporary residence permit, refugee ID, or temporary asylum certificate); education documents; proof of Russian language proficiency.

How long can a foreigner sign a contract for?

What payments are foreign contract servicemen entitled to?

Guaranteed federal and regional payments based on rank, position, years of service. Signing a contract for at least one year: one-time payment of 195,000 RUB. Enlisting in Moscow: +50,000 RUB per full calendar month. Family members also entitled to benefits.
